synopsis - concept - reviews - trailer - dvd

Following the private screening, Samurai Monogatari was submitted for the DM Davies Award as part of the Cardiff Screen Festival 2003. While it was not shortlisted, the film was well recieved and as a result of its festival outing and the publicity generated by Y Sioe Gelf and Buzz Magazine respectively the film has since been licensed for broadcast on S4C Digital with three screenings planned over the course of 5 years.

Welsh subtitles were painstakingly translated for the broadcast version with great thanks to Tyrone Lewis, Keith Rogers, Wyn Ellis and Cerys Evans. The subtitles have been included on the DVD which is now available for purchase online (for full details visit the DVD page).

The journey of this film now seems to have ended, it's been 18 months since I first concieved the idea for the film and in that time new projects have come and gone and new opportunities have come my way. Whether or not Random Films takes off and moves onto bigger projects remains to be seen, but "Samurai Monogatari" - the first short-film from this outfit will always be the starting point and remembered with fond memories.
